Extracurricular activity group Kanazawa University Volunteer Support Station has been continuously carrying out various exchange activities with the victims of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake 2024.
On February 9, 23 and on March 23, 30, Volunteer Support Station hosted the "Yottekimasshi Exchange Meeting" and engaged in exchange activities with residents of the Mukaiawasaki district of Uchinada Town. More than 10 people participated in each exchange meeting, and enjoyed conversations through activities such as origami and playing cards. They also cleared snow from temporary housing in the area surrounding the Mukaiawasaki Community Center, where the activity took place.
On February 4, 18 and on March 11, 18, Kaisei Harada, a lecturer in the Department Faculty of Economics and Management Institute of Human and Social Sciences and Advisor for Volunteer Support, hosted a salon event for people affected by the disaster at the "Starry Sky Cafe" he organized at the Sumiyoshi Community Center in Nakai district, Anamizu Town. More than 10 people participated in each session, which was a place for friends to talk with each other. On March 11th, local musicians played the cello and piano, and people enjoyed interacting with each other while enjoying music.
On February 7, 14, 21, and March 14, 21, Volunteer Support Station students and their advisor lecturer Kaisei Harada participated in the "Atsumaranke~Noto! Cafe" that was held by Kanazawa City Welfare Equipment Information Plaza. Participants had a chance to communicate with people who had evacuated to Kanazawa City, and had a lively discussion about events in Kanazawa City and the current situation in Noto.
On March 15, Volunteer Support Station students and lecturer Harada, together with students and staff from Waseda University's Hirayama Ikuo Memorial Volunteer Center WAVOC, participated in the children's cafeteria "Wa-Mosso Children's Restaurant" organized by the Child Welfare Division of the Wajima City Social Welfare Council. They helped with cooking the meals and supported the children's play, and interacted with local children.
