Construction work has begun on the "Advanced Information Specialist Human Resources Development Center (tentative name)," which will serve as an education and research center for the digital field, on the Kakuma Campus.
This facility is a base facility for the fields of information engineering and digital integration, aiming to establish an ecosystem for training advanced information specialists that will foster a large number of excellent, highly skilled information specialists and send them out into society. The facility is a two-story reinforced concrete structure with a total floor area of approximately 1,800 m2 (including the corridor). The construction is scheduled for completion in 2025. Construction began after the facility was selected by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology for "University and College of Technology Functional Strengthening Support Project (Support for Functional Strengthening to Secure Advanced Information Specialists)" in July 2023.
In order to foster digital talent in interdisciplinary fields and information engineering specialists in a multi-layered and integrated manner, our university has significantly expanded the number of students admitted to the College of Transdisciplinary Sciences for Innovations, School of Smart Technology and Innovation by 35 students and the College of Science and Engineering, School of Electrical, Information and Communication Engineering by 40 students in 2024. As the academic year progresses, we will also increase the admission capacity of our master's and doctoral programs, consistently expanding the number of students admitted to foster and produce DX talent.
Kanazawa University will also work with National Institute of Technology, Ishikawa College to develop collaborative education programs and promote transfer to bachelor's degree programs. Furthermore, Kanazawa University will work with the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology to establish an "Ecosystem for Training Advanced Information Specialists from Kanazawa" that meets both the demand for advanced information specialists in the industrial sector and the demand for human resources who can play an active role in academia with their advanced research and educational capabilities in the information and communication fields.
