On February 3, Kanazawa University held the 4th joint symposium with the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) and the 16th Life Science Research Exchange Seminar in the main conference room on the first floor of the Natural Science Library Building on the Kakuma Campus.

Since establishing Division of Transdisciplinary Sciences in 2018, Kanazawa University have been promoting interdisciplinary research together with the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) . However, since last year, we have been holding joint symposiums with the aim of developing and promoting joint research between the two universities.

This time was the fourth time the event was being held. The topic of the first part of the event was "Healthy Longevity". Over 110 participants including faculty, staff, and students from both universities, as well as the general public, participated in the event.

The symposium began with an opening address by Kanazawa University President Takashi Wada, followed by Professor Motoichi Kurisawa and Eijiro Miyako from the Frontier Research Area of Materials Chemistry and Transcendental Biomedical DX Research Center at the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. Then Professor Takeshi Suzuki and Professor Yoshikazu Johmura from Kanazawa University Cancer Research Institute, reported on the latest biomedical research results and "what research fields are possible with which to conduct collaborative research." Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology President Minoru Terano gave a closing address for the first part of the symposium.

The second part (face-to-face only) was a poster session and round-table discussion at the Life Science Research Exchange Seminar, which has been held regularly on-campus since 2015.

This symposium provided a valuable opportunity to further deepen the research exchanges between the two universities, and to look forward to further development.
